Questions about Anime
1. Who is your favorite male anime character?
It's a toss off between Girghe from Break Blade and Ginko from Mushishi. If I absolutely have to choose one, I think I'd pick...Ginko.

| Say hello to my former avatar. |
2. Who is your favorite female character?
Kino from Kino's Journey. Regardless of gender, Kino is my absolute favorite character of all time. She's just so...human.
Runner up: Guu from Hale+Guu, for the
exact opposite reasons.

3. What is your favorite anime soundtrack?
The OST for Mushishi. I also enjoy the Baccano! and Gintama soundtracks, amongst others, but Mushishi is my favorite.
4. What is your favorite anime opening + animation?
“Fate” by KOKIA, the Break Blade opening. This was the first KOKIA song I heard, and the one that made me discover more about the singer. It's still my favorite song of hers, and she's currently in a tie for being my all-time favorite artist, so this may be my favorite song period.
5. What is your favorite anime ending song + animation?
“The Beautiful World” by Ai Meada, the ending for Kino's Journey. (Sorry, could only find the song.)
6. What is your favorite anime scene?
This is a tricky question for me, because I rarely focus on individual scenes. I guess I'm gonna pick that scene in the second episode of Kino's Journey where we find out that the merchants are actually [spoiler redacted] and they [spoiler redacted]. I totally wasn't expecting it, and it completely changed the mood and theme of the episode. It was so amazing to me.
7. If you could meet an anime character who would it be?
This is another toss off, this time between Ginko and Kino. I think Ginko would win, because I'd probably have a harder time starting up a conversation with Kino than I would with Ginko. Also, Ginko's stories are more immediately accessible.
8. What anime character is most similar to you in terms of personality?
The single anime character most similar to me in terms of personality is most likely Sawako Kuronuma (A.K.A. Sadako) from Kimi ni Todoke. Of course, there are several differences between the two of us, but she's the most similar that any one character is to me, at least that I've seen.
9. What is your favorite thing about anime?
There are a lot of things, but most of them have their roots in the freedom of the art form. I believe the medium has a ton of potential, and I love seeing that potential in front of me.

| Things like thi-OH MY GOSH |
10. What is your least favorite thing about anime?
The fact that its potential is so often fallen short of.
Character's sleep-talking being taken as true.
Characters opening books to a random page in the middle and reading them from there.
The belief that cold weather/rain will instantly and without fail result in a cold or fever.
Not the way people look down on it, but the way they treat you for watching it.
Pick any of the above, they're all pretty bad to me.
11. Who are your favorite anime couple?
Miyu and Yamato from Super Gals!, if I have to pick one (and it has to be canon). Ha! There, a couple you have a 99% chance of having never heard of! Suffer in your ignorance! (Evil laugh)
Sato and Todoroki from Working!! are in the list of runners-up.
12. Who is your favorite anime animal?
Inuyasha? If you don't like anthropomorphic options, I'll go with either Sakamoto or Karasu from Nichijou.
13. What anime would make a good game?
Mushishi would make an awesome trading card game.
Video game? Juuni Kokuki (I think it already has one, but I'll never be able to play it) or Guin Saga.
Video game? Juuni Kokuki (I think it already has one, but I'll never be able to play it) or Guin Saga.
14. What game would make a good anime?
I think Megaman Zero would make a decent action show. (I was going to suggest Fire Emblem for the GBA, but that's practically already an anime, so I decided it was too easy.)
15. What was the first anime you ever watched?
What a tricky question! The first anime that happened when I was in the room was Pokemon. It was at my cousin's house and I was about 5. My cousins were watching it and I was literally just zoning out (I wasn't interested in anime back in those days), hence the “happening” and not the “watching.” Interestingly enough, this situation repeated itself years later at a different cousin's house. The first anime I *watched* was Duel Masters, a Yu-Gi-Oh parody. I laughed at it, and was sort of watching it to make fun of anime. The first anime I watched with the intention of actually liking it was Inuyasha, and I consider that to be my “true” first anime (interestingly enough, I have yet to complete the show). So I guess I'll go with Inuyasha.
16. Do you think you’ll ever stop watching anime?
It's possible, maybe even likely...but I hope not.
17. What is your favorite genre of anime?
Um...that genre where they tell a good, interesting story?
I like certain types of psychological shows, and I appreciate science fiction...so I guess I'll go with that? Also, I can be a pretty big shoujo/josei fanatic when I want to be, so any of those, really.
18. What is your least favorite genre of anime?
I'm pretty open to everything, but I guess sports and music shows, just by virtue of how unexposed to those genres I am.
I'm hardly a fan of ecchi, either, but then again I don't really consider that to be a “genre.”
19. Are you open about watching anime with people you know?
No, though unfortunately a few people I wanted it to be a secret from have found out.
20. Have you ever been to Japan?
Nope. I'm actually not that interested in going, either. Although, it would be nice to have better access to KOKIA, Boris, and anime OST albums. Amazon can only take you so far.
21. What anime was the biggest let down for you?
My expectations for any show are rarely high, so I never get too beat up over any one, single poor anime. This is a tough questions for me. If I have to pick one and only one anime that disappointed me, (that isn't Hidan no Aria, because that's too easy), I guess I'd pick El Cazador De La Bruja... I had high hopes for that show, but it failed to deliver.
22. What anime was better then expected?
There have been a lot, since as I said before I keep my expectations not too high. Juuni Kokuki, Guin Saga, Gokusen, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, and Shiki are all shows that turned out to be a lot better than I expected. I think the biggest surprise for me, though, was Tytania. I never would have thought that the show could possibly be good after watching the opening, but it managed to get me hooked. I guess I do love a good space opera here and there.
23. What is the best anime fight scene?
Kenshin vs. Saito, Rurouni Kenshin episode 30. Hands are down, chained to the table. The only possible contestant would be Girghe from Break Blade fighting the Braves or whatever they're called, but that only happens in the manga so it doesn't count.
24. Who is your anime waifu?
My what? Well, going by the context, I think I can say with some confidence that I don't have one. I do have a pretty major crush on Girghe, though.

25. What was your favorite video game as a child?
That's easy, Jazz Jackrabbit 2. It still is, really.
Questions about me
26. Most embarrassing moment?
My life is a series of embarrassing moments that I either realize in retrospect, or narrowly avoid just before they can happen. Pinpointing the most embarrassing one would be impossible. I guess pseudo-break dancing at my sister's wedding with the entire extended family looking on is a pretty good contender for the spot, though.
27a. Can you drive?
In F-Zero? Sure.
In reality? No...though I will need to get a license soon.
27b. Do you own a car?
No.
28. Are you mature?
Depends on your definition, and what kind of maturity you're talking about. Intellectual maturity? Yes. Emotional maturity? I'd like to think so. Physical maturity? ...I won't go there. Social maturity? Not really.
29. In what
I was born sometime in the 90's, and that's all you're getting.
30. Do you prefer cats or dogs?
I've had more experience with dogs, so dogs. I don't dislike cats, though.
31. Describe yourself physically.
Blond hair. I'm often told that I possess really, really, blindingly white pale skin (not albino, though). It burns like a match, which makes things like kayaking and swimming a pain. Aside from that, I'm quite skinny and I've also been told that I have gargantuan hands, though I'm not sure how much I agree with that. I'm about 185 cm (6' 1") tall.
32. What would you name your first child?
I'm unsure if I'm even going to have a child, let alone what I'm going to name it...“it.” I feel so cruel.
33. What is the worst injury you have ever had?
I have had a gloriously injury (and hospital)-free life. The worst injury I've had is a nasty scrape on my knee. Actually, scratch that (haha, get it?), I've had a log thrown at my hand once. It was just a tiny cut, but it hurt and bled like the entire digit was cut off. My shorts pocket had a massive 8-inch diameter blood stain on it afterward.
34. What is your worst habit?
I worry excessively.
35. Do you drink or smoke?
Drink? No, not even coffee.
Smoke? No.
36. Do you have a tattoo?
No.
37. Are you a morning person or a night person?
A night person, though I can get ready to leave somewhere in about 5 minutes at any time of the day, and college has forced me to start going to bed/wake up earlier.
38. Have you ever slept past midday?
Oh my yes. I actually used to stay up 'till 4 (A.M.) and get up at 2 (P.M.) before I started going to college.

39. Do you regret anything?
Yes, I regret many things that I've done/seen/heard/experienced in my life.
40. Can you count the number of friends you have on one hand?
There are too many!
...fingers...
(Unless I count the blogosphere)
41. Do you wear glasses?
Yes. I occasionally wear contacts, but they can be a pain if my eyes are tired.
42. Are you a picky eater?
Somewhat, leaning towards “yes.” Depends on your definition. It's not so much that I'm adverse to trying new foods, but I know what I like and I'd much prefer to have that.
43. Would you die for someone?
If they would die otherwise? Yeah, totally. Unless I have some sort of really big grudge against that specific person.
44. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Hmm...the superpower to motivate and focus myself at any time, any place, and for any undertaking? It may sound like a waste, but I can't really imagine a more useful power for everyday life.
45. Do you believe in the supernatural?
Depends on how you define it. I'll answer yes...very tentatively.
46. Would you rather be rich or famous?
If we're talking movie star kind of fame, rich. If we're talking “people like me, so they'll give me control over what games I can make” kind of fame, then I might choose fame.
47. Have you ever committed a crime?
Absolutely not. I don't even download anime to my hard drive (though I do watch it online). On a semi-related note, I believe that pirating games is despicable.
48.
I found the Time Traveler vs. Ghost thing kind of unfair. I mean, one is a superpower, and the other is...dead. So, I edited it a little. After thinking about it and just what it entails, I think I'd go for immortal. I have a lot of things I want to do and make, and I'd prefer to have the time to finish them all. As for the original, probably time traveler. I'm sure I'd find some way to make it useful. Also, ninjas.
49. Does someone have a crush on you?
I really doubt it.
50. Are you in a relationship?
No. No I am not.

Nice answers - I really enjoyed reading this post!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it!
Delete"I've had a log thrown at my hand once."
ReplyDeleteHow the what?
It was on a camping trip a few years ago. Me and a few other people went to get firewood. The stuff we got was really heavy, so we threw it on the pile as opposed to placing it down. Well, me and someone else both threw them on the pile at the same time, and his log went right into my hand. At first it just stung, then I realized it was bleeding and it started to hurt a lot more. I'm still amazed at the amount of blood that came out, since the cut itself was only like 3mm big.
DeleteOn, ok. I thought some kind of deranged mountain man was trying to murder you and had really shitty aim or something.
DeleteWell, that too.
DeleteIf only you could like comments XD
DeleteI have been blinded by your whi...
ReplyDeleteWait. Just kidding!
Nice "fashionably" late post XD, finally revealing some of your secrets..mwahahahaha
I'm glad you're kidding, I would hate to blind a bro.
DeleteHopefully I haven't lost all of my mysterious aura. :)
Thanks for dropping by!
Good answers I like being able to know more about the blogsphere.
ReplyDeleteFashionably late, if I link that to your 2pm wake up time then I'd say Fashionably lazy. :P
You have good taste in characters. Ginko and Kino are great and I wish more anime would be like theirs.
That was just in my middle/high school years! I don't stay up that late anymore! I swear!
DeleteYeah, no kidding. Kino no Tabi and Mushishi are some of my personal favorites (and are the only two shows I own, incidentally).
Somehow I didn't know you were such a big fan of Break Blade. Or that you were so similar to Sawako. Maybe its because I always saw you as Satou, though I guess he's pretty quiet and reserved too.
ReplyDeleteBreak Blade is pretty awesome. It's probably my favorite manga. But the anime has Girghe in motion + KOKIA, who is possibly my favorite artist, so...yeah, I quite like it.
DeleteAs for Sawako, when I first saw the question and thought of her, I was like "Hey, we're kind of similar...that's cool." Like I said, there are some differences (for example, I don't have the most popular guy at college lusting after me), but yeah. I'm glad you saw me as Sato though, since he's sort of my Internet image.
Thanks for stopping by!
I am disappoint. You know why.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I wanted to pretend that I had an image to maintain too. Plus I couldn't just make *every* answer Queen's Blade. Someday, though. Someday...
DeleteFinish InuYasha, finish it now!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you're almost a whole foot taller than me... scary...
The problem is, I started out with the dub, but I really couldn't stand some of the side characters VAs. So then I tried switching to subs, only to find out that Inuyasha is voiced by my least favorite VA ever...That has been on my list for a while though.
DeleteBeing tall is awful! I'm also bumping my head into thing and having to crouch down! Plus I keep on having to change my wardrobe, which has been kind of pain.
